Success?

Well, we went to the State Marching Contest, got into the finals (top ten), and finished fourth place. Our school's gotten second the past two state contests, so this is a little sad. But still, to be fourth in all of Texas is really saying something! People were crying when they didn't announce our name, but they really weren't looking at the big picture. Texas is a big state, a HUGE state, and to be behind only three other bands is still a pretty big deal. What everyone needs is some gratitude and pride for how well we actually did.
Something bad happened that reaped a good reward. One of the seven charter buses we used to get everyone there broke down, so we got home at 4:30 AM, a lot later than we thought we would arrive. BUT, the principal is awesome and said that band kids didn't have to come to school today, because the people on said bus got back at 7 AM! So I'm happy right now.
It seems like I won't have anything to do with myself since I always practiced marching band up until now, but I know I'll find some way to waste my time.
Hey, I just now thought of this - WE BEAT DAWSON!!! Haven't we wanted that the whole time? They got nothing on us. They got 8th and we got 4th. That is the silver lining right there!
