Things I Would Invest In If I Was Rich

When I see magazines in waiting rooms (as I have no subscriptions of my own) and see all the things that are advertised to buy, they all seem way overpriced and totally NOT worth it. Yes, I have been raised to not have a lot of the things I'd like to have, so that definitely affects my opinion. But I do stand by the fact that consumerism is rampant in this day and age, and it makes me think: if my degree leads me into a career that makes me considerably wealthy (if if if) then how would I handle it? Would I buy nice cars? Well they're not my kind of thing. Would I get clothes and jewelry for myself? So many clothes isn't my thing either. Would I spoil my kids, then? I should hope not! Personally, there are some things I'd really like to have if I had the means. But I consider these to be healthy interests that wouldn't make me appear too high-class, because I wouldn't want that.

HAIR PRODUCTS
Whenever I see glamorous people in pictures, the thing that catches my eye the most isn't their extremely luxurious clothing, which has always seemed too unreachable, or their makeup jobs that surpass anything I'd dream of putting on my own face. What really appeals to me is how their hair looks so shiny and thick, especially with brunettes, since it's easier to see with them. As a brunette myself, I'm constantly trying to figure out what I can do on the cheap to make my hair look super healthy like that of celebrities. I wouldn't even have to try so hard to style my hair; if it just looked as soft and silky and strong as celebrity hair, that'd be enough for e. So I would definitely buy the right kinds of hair shampoo, conditioner, and whatever other kind of cream or treatment that makes hair look like a million bucks. Then I'd look beautiful even with minimal makeup! What a dream that'd be!

TEETH WHITENING
When I was a little kid, I don't know why, but I thought brushing teeth was just a stupid thing that was recommended but not necessary. As a result, nowadays, though I do take good care of my teeth, what I neglected before has made it so that my teeth can't be as white as I'd like, and it's a true bummer (this has also convinced me that I'm gonna drill it into my future kids to ALWAYS brush). So some real-deal whitening treatments every now and then would be super nice to be able to afford as well. Again, it's the little things that make a beautiful outside (notice I didn't say beautiful person, because that has NOTHING to do with the outside) and this is what makes a person look beautiful without portraying too much fakeness. Teeth ARE meant to be white; are girls' faces meant to be painted orange?

TRIPS AROUND THE WORLD
I don't mean a honeymoon every two years. I mean real adventures in realistic conditions that make a person become more than they were before. It would also be really nice to do this with friends or my future husband or whoever, but the main point is learning something. IN MY OPINION, great experiences last much longer and are worth more than great big toys. I don't want a yacht; I want an opportunity to scuba dive off a ship. I've been camping a lot, but that was a long time ago, and now that I'm starting to miss it, I can't wait until I can decide and plan and pay for it myself.

MY DREAM BATHROOM
I've put a lot of consideration into this one. If I could afford it, I would give myself the most beautiful bathroom (I don't care if it's small) that would make me feel so calm and relaxed beyond belief. A place where I can feel like I've stepped into another world. I know it sounds weird, but people all have unique dreams, right? So my dream bathroom would be something that would incorporate all of these things:

A CLUBHOUSE FOR MY FUTURE KIDS
Ever since I was tiny, my siblings and I always had big imaginations, mainly in the way we made up games and played together. Nowadays, the little kids I see don't show much creative thought. So I think if I give my kids a cool clubhouse/hideout (even if they think they found it themselves) then they would be encouraged to let their imaginations run wild and play the way kids really should. It might also be linked to the fact that I had always wanted a cool clubhouse to hang in way back when, but I never got one. I don't want my own kids to live that life! Haha it's funny where my priorities lie! But still no kid would disagree: clubhouses ARE cool.

HEALTHY FOOD
Everyone knows that produce and healthy food costs more than junk food, usually. You have to pay to be healthier nowadays (weird how it's the opposite of how it was a hundred years ago; fatness used to be envied and somewhat desired) and if I'm gonna do one thing for my future family that doesn't yet exist, it's to feed them healthy food. I won't force them to all be vegans or eat quinoa regularly, whatever that is. I'll just make sure that their lunches aren't all chips and Twinkies. Wait, do Twinkies still exist? I've never had one so I wouldn't know. But I've seen first hand what too much snacking can do to young kids, and I don't want to let that happen to mine.

ORGANIZATIONS
I would put 'charity' but that doesn't cover the whole scope. Mission trips to other countries, so Christians can reach the whole world, is definitely something I think is worth putting my money to. Or maybe sponsoring a kid in Africa, that's always a good cause - as long as it's through a Christian organization. But I always thought about celebrities and how if they all had the mindset that they could each make huge differences in the world, what a world it would be. So if I could really help out, I absolutely would!

So there's my definitive list of personal desires I'd like, if I was rolling in dough. Even if I'm not ever at that point, I can still do these things on a smaller scale. I just hope that I always remember that it's others that matter more than myself, it's the inside that matters more than the outside, and it's God that matters more than this world.
