My Brilliant Plan
The other day, my friend came to me and said she had decided not to go to prom this year because she got tickets to see Taylor Swift in concert that night. I'm no super TSwift fan, but if I was one, it would seem like a legit reason to skip prom. Then she started talking about how she didn't really want to go to prom anyways since everyone really goes for the before and after parties and not the dance itself. I pondered this, and agreed with her. Prom is not nearly as fun if you don't have a big group to go with, and since I would only be going with four other girls, because that is all the good friends I have that are single, the before party/banquet wouldn't be too thrilling. Especially since none of us would have dates. And I've heard that a lot of people get drunk at the after parties anyway, so I wouldn't be going to that either. So I came up with the idea that my four friends and I would NOT GO TO PROM and would instead do something else entirely. It makes a lot of sense every time I think about it; out of my group of friends, I'm the one that likes to dance the most, and even I don't care to go. Plus, you have to buy an expensive dress and do all this preparation, and for what? One night of fanciness, where the spotlight isn't even on you and everyone is either equally fancy or more so, and you end up feeling like all that effort was for nothing. At least, that's what I assume. That's how I feel even at the band banquets at the end of every year. So why should I subject myself to that? I don't have money to throw out the window either, so circumventing the cost of a gown would make my momma happy, I'm sure.
Anyway, I asked each friend, one by one about this, and they all said ok. And I came up with a great plan: the night before, we will have a movie night. Then the day of prom, we'll go to this place called SkyZone, which is a place with trampolines for floors and walls. It's super fun, I've heard. Then, that night, when all the other girlswill be getting ready, we will each put on an old and/or ugly prom dress and do our hair and make up ridiculously, then take prom-style pictures in said getup. It will be hilarious! Then, funnier still, we will actually go to dinner somewhere nice, as if we are going to prom, and the people will think we are actually going like that! It will be so funny! Our little prank on the public. I told my pals this grand scheme, and they all cracked up, which I assume means they like it. I call the plan "Anti-Prom". I think it will be really a blast! And this is coming from the girl who absolutely loves going to dances! My friends are all I need for a good time, though.
