Book Review: The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult
Okay so I don't read books too often, mainly because I don't get through them quickly at all, so each one takes months. But I decided to borrow this book from my mom since it looked interesting, and give it a go. And let me just say, I'm glad I did! Picoult is a true artist, the way she weaves the story, with not only plot twists but also incorporating a complex structure of the novel itself. The characters are relateable, at least to a degree, since I don't agree with their personal life choices, more like I can relate to the decisions they make, since I'd have done the same. There are so many elements, multiple plots going on, different questions being asked to make you really think. And that's what a good novel does, right? There were some romantic parts that made me embarrassed for when my mother actually reads it and realizes that I read the same thing. But for the most part, an easy one to delve into.I know I'm being super vague, but I don't want to give any spoilers, even though there's probably no one that's going to actually read this. But hey, I'd want the common courtesy of leaving out spoilers if I was reading a review. Hence my caution. But ya, I'd like to really get into books again. I seemed to have an easier time at it as a young kid, but maybe that's because I wasn't assigned all the classics to read back then, instead being given contemporary YA books that still had a lesson within. But the high school list of oldies that everyone has to crawl through can almost discourage kids like me, who just want to be entertained, from reading. Although if it all did one thing, it encouraged me to check out the other classics for myself later on down the road when I can truly absorb it. AND now I'm realizing that this is no longer a book review so I'll just leave it at that!
