Amy Winehouse

God rest her soul. She was, well, a pothead, but the one song by her that I knew was SOOOOOOO catchy! "They try to make me go to rehab but I say no, no, no!" When I first heard that song, I thought she was black, just from her voice. But I would never have thought that she was British! She sounds nothing like a Brit. Sadly, she totally goes against the stereotype British = smart. I also thought she was in her forties when I first saw her, but I guess that's what drugs do to a person. And her unique hairstyle is a bit old-fashioned. So for first impressions, she seemed completely different than how she really was. Except for the whole drug thing. That was always known to me.
She seemed like she didn't want to be a celebrity, like a kid born into royalty or something. Since she had a good voice, someone made her sing, led her around, and told her to do it even though she was probably clueless about most things. She must not have cared much about being famous if she couldn't even bother to NOT be high when performing. I saw some video of her stumbling through a song when she was drunk or stoned or something- it was really a sad sight.
At any rate, she was a unique person. I'm sure we can all learn something from her life on this earth.
